Representing loss through a system of negative space.
Elisa’s bronze works capture moments in time. Handprints are turned into daily life objects like handles and doorknobs and form daily life memoirs. I designed the publication Bij Leven containing the images and additional background stories of the project. (Bij Leven can’t be translated, but refers to someone in both life and death.) The publication repeats the system of negative space: the 80 grams paper shows the printed ink on the other side of the page.
