ABOUT MAYRA
My name is Mayra Slagboom. I am a 22-year-old Amsterdam-based graphic designer, writer, and visual researcher. In the summer of 2021, I graduated from the University of Arts Utrecht with a BA in Graphic Design.
My name is Mayra Slagboom. I am a 22-year-old Amsterdam-based graphic designer, writer, and visual researcher. In the summer of 2021, I graduated from the University of Arts Utrecht with a BA in Graphic Design.
The human story and perspective form my greatest inspiration: most of my projects start with an experience, dream, or memory. Composing these narratives is my way of organizing knowledge into meaningful structures.
My visual language is often described as poetic, minimalistic, and subtle. I have a strong preference for print and book design, although the final form does not necessarily follow any confined set of ideas. I like my design practice to be project-based and I strive for the principle that form follows function: finding the right balance between aesthetics and functional communication is a constant challenge I love to undertake.
